Meet Sharon Uthappa
I am a certified Mental Health Therapist dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges with compassion, hope, and evidence-based care. I hold a double Master's degree in Counselling and Social Work from Sydney, Australia, and certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner with a Diploma in Modern Applied Psychology and Sports Psychology.
With over a decade of clinical experience across Australia and India, I have worked with people from diverse cultural backgrounds facing a wide range of emotional, psychological, and relational difficulties. My professional experience spans community mental health, family services, domestic and family violence, crisis intervention, and private practice, equipping me with the knowledge and skills to provide holistic, client-centred care. I have a special interest in trauma, anxiety, domestic and family violence (DFV), family therapy, and supporting families affected by substance addiction. I understand that addiction impacts not only the individual but also the entire family system.
Through compassionate family therapy, I help family members improve communication, rebuild trust, establish healthy boundaries, and develop practical strategies to support recovery while promoting their own emotional wellbeing. My practice is grounded in a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and collaborative approach. Drawing from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities—including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, and NLP—I tailor each session to meet the unique needs, goals, and circumstances of every client.
Passionate about helping people recognise their innate worth, I believe that healing and personal growth are possible when therapy builds upon an individual's strengths, resilience, and access to supportive resources. I am always committed to creating a safe, warm, and non-judgemental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful and lasting changes.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, the impact of domestic and family violence, or the challenges associated with substance addiction within your family, I provide compassionate guidance and practical support to help you move towards healing, resilience, and renewed hope.
