HELPING HANDS

Social Work

Holding Hands

Some of my earliest memories are of watching my mother selflessly help those in need. She would go above and beyond to support others, often making personal sacrifices. When I asked why she put in so much effort, she explained that access to necessities is every human’s right. Her words stayed with me, shaping my values and instilling a simple yet profound principle: help those in need

Inspired by her example, I began volunteering with various NGOs and church groups in Bangalore. These experiences took me to orphanages, drug rehabilitation centres, and old age homes. While it felt good to contribute, I often left feeling saddened by how little I could do to truly help. Each visit added to a growing frustration—a fire that stayed with me for years.

It wasn’t until 2017 that this fire was reignited. The sense of helplessness I felt in being unable to provide more meaningful support to my counselling clients motivated me to pursue a Master’s in Social Work. This program equipped me with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, deepening my understanding of social justice and the importance of empowering others through self-determination.

As a social worker, I follow a strength-based approach, recognizing that each client is the expert in their own life. The mission of Helping Hand is to empower individuals to inspire systemic change within their communities, creating a positive ripple effect that extends far and wide.

My goal is to rekindle a sense of community in our society, free from the influence of caste, colour, race, religion, or any other biases. By focusing on humanity and emotional well-being, I aim to foster meaningful change—one person at a time.
