THERAPEUTIC CONVERSATIONS
Counselling

The first time I met with a counsellor, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I approached the session with an open mind but left feeling unheard and misunderstood. Instead of gaining clarity, I felt more confused, frustrated, and angry than when I walked in. That experience left a bitter taste, and I swore off counselling entirely, though the disappointment lingered in my mind for years.
Eventually, and what I now see as divine intervention, I enrolled in a Master’s program in Counselling in Sydney, Australia. The course not only equipped me with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to be an effective counsellor but also deepened my understanding of the privilege and responsibility that come with this role.
Since then, I have worked with individuals, children, young adults and families helping them navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, domestic and family violence, and relationship issues. I have also co-facilitated psychoeducational groups for both men and women, striving to create safe, supportive spaces for growth and healing. This journey has given me a profound appreciation for the power of counselling when done with empathy and care.

As Brene Brown rightly said,
“When we deny the story, it defines us.
When we own the story, we can write a brave new ending.”
